Our Saturday started at 8:30 this morning at our good friends' house for Waffles and Water Fun to celebrate little brother's first birthday. How creative? Their backyard is famous for birthday parties and just events in general to bring everyone together. Fun to catch up with friends during a busy summer.
Then around 10:00, we raced to the zoo so we would not miss the Ugandan Orphan's Choir performance. We arrived a little late, but we had great seats to view these precious children singing and dancing their hearts out! Dee and I both got a little emotional watching these kids perform. It's amazing how we have fallen in love with a country half way around the world that we have only seen through a computer screen. And now a precious face who we have only seen in pictures, but we hope this little boy will soon be apart of our family. Only God can create this kind of passion in our hearts. Only God can compel us to love something so far removed from our normal life. Only God can orchestrate a child from Africa to be in a family in America. Only God can continue what he has started!
How beautiful is she...
We were thrilled to see the Levys too..Sweet Sarah is doing so well! Sarah is the first Ugandan baby I have ever met, so I love being around her...it makes this whole process seem real. Sarah is so friendly and she is a joy to be around. Mary Taylor loves her too!

On another note, Dee told me later about how Henry (3 and half years old) went up to some of the older Ugandan boys and carried on a conversation like this:
Henry: "What country are you from?"
Ugandan boys: "Uganda"
Henry: "My brother lives in Uganda."
Ugandan boys: "Oh." (he's not sure what else they said)
The purpose of The Ugandan Orphan's Choir is to raise sponsors and awareness for the orphans in Uganda. Georgia was their first stop, but for the next ten months they will be traveling up the East Coast and performing at various places. If you want to learn more go to Childcare Worldwide.

All these children are true orphans from Uganda with out a mother or father to call their own. Hard to wrap your brain around 147,000,000,000 orphans, but it's a different story when you see their faces in person. I am sure they feel very privileged to be apart of such a select group of children to travel around the world, but Oh how they all long to have a real family-a mama and daddy to hold them and love them and give them true identity.
