Four Months

Monday was four months since we saw the precious brown skinned, beautiful smile, gorgeous big brown eyed Charles Tucker. I never thought we would still be looking at his picture after four months. Today was a very hard day, but the Lord met me in my sadness and frustration and his given me eyes for him again. He rescued me from drowning in my own self pity. He put a new song in my mouth! I don't want to miss what the Lord is doing, while I focus so much on myself. The Lord wants to give good gifts to those he loves. I want to desire what the Lord desires right now today. Thank you for all your prayers, it is working.

I waited patiently for the LORD;
       he turned to me and heard my cry.
  He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
       out of the mud and mire;
       he set my feet on a rock
       and gave me a firm place to stand.
 He put a new song in my mouth,
       a hymn of praise to our God.
       Many will see and fear
       and put their trust in the LORD.
 Psalm 40:1-3

  1. I'm so sorry you were sad today. I'm glad to see you running straight to the only true place of comfort- Jesus. Praying for you, my friend. I remember these days of waiting and they are really tough.

    Much love,
    Amy

  3. It is a blessing reading what the Lord is teaching all of you on this journey. He has been teaching our family the same lesson about His perfect timing in so many areas. The latest came at the end of last week. Our middle son, Russ, graduated with his MBA in May from Alabama. He already had interviewed and gotten a job with Schlumberger, an oil and gas company. They assigned him to be a field engineer in Nigeria. He got all the paperwork,passport, medical work, etc. They were trying to get his work visa from Nigeria. In the meantime, we were checking out places where he could worship. Late summer they had still not gotten his visa. Then, they closed that door for security reasons. They were scrambling to find him another place. We were praying that he could be here for our oldest son's wedding on September 17th. It worked out that he was able to be here and he got a call that they were sending him to Baku, Azerbijan. We had never heard of it. It used to be a part of Russia and is right next to Iran. They started working on getting him a visa for there. In the meantime, Russ started to learn Russian and my husband found a wonderful English speaking evangelical church for him to go to in Baku. Last week, after Russ emailing and calling without getting answers he told them he needed to work anywhere, even stateside because it had been 6 months with no income. The assistant told him that Baku said the job wasn't open anymore but they knew there was one. When he said he'd work stateside the assistant told him that one had come open and they had offered it to this other guy that was in a situation like Russ. She told him she'd call him back after she talked to her boss. Turns out that he'll be working in Horseheads, NY.We are all so excited. The Lord had prepared our hearts for him to go overseas but knew the likelihood of us being able to visit him for 3 years was slim. Yesterday the head contact told him that he really lucked out getting a stateside job. We laughed knowing that luck had nothing to do with it. It was God's perfect timing. He'll be leaving on Novemeber 7th to go for training in Houston. We are so thankful for all the Lord has and is teaching us on this journey. We would have never learned about some of these places and fellow members of the Body of Christ had we not been through this.

    I know this is long and rambling I just want to encourage you that God's timing is perfect. Kelley, my husband, had the scripture reference, Jeremiah 29:11 engraved in my wedding band. It is my life verse. His plans are for our welfare and not for calamity to give us hope and a future. You are learning that day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. It is obvious that the Lord has and is teaching you contentment right where He has you in the "here and now". Charles Thomas will be the most blessed little boy. You remind me so much of Paul when he says,"I've learned to be content in whatever circumstances I'm in". Has/Is it always easy learning it? No way, but you'll be able to look back on this time one day and be forever grateful for it.
