Operation Christmas Child

Growing up, the anticipation of Christmas morning was so wonderful, but after opening up all the gifts and realizing that that was it, was always such a let down. This reminds me that the things of this world are not fulfilling and never satisfy us like we think they will.

I want our children to know that Christmas
is about loving and sharing the gift of Christ
with others around us and around the globe.

For the last three days, Henry and I have been working
on an "Operation Christmas Child" shoe box gift.
This gift will go to a needy child somewhere in the world.

1. We wrapped the shoe box in Christmas wrapping paper
2. We decided we wanted to find gifts for a three year old boy, just like Henry.
3. We  made a card for the little boy with pictures of our family and our address of where we live. Maybe he will write us a letter and we can know what country our shoe box gift traveled to.
4. We went to Target and Crib it and filled the shoe box with lots of toys.
5. We prayed for the little boy to know Jesus.
6. Today, we delivered our gift to Church of the Apostles so they can send it to our three year old little boy. The drop off dates are Nov.16-23. You can find your closest location on the Samaritan purse website.

Henry is coloring a picture for the little boy.

We were about to drop it off at Church of the Apostles.

Mary Taylor was upset that I was not holding her
and Henry was screaming in response to his sister!

All weekend, he has been asking me "When is this little boy going to come home and play me?" "He can play with my toys and he can eat my food. We have lots of food!" I think he is a little confused about the little baby that we will hopefully adopt and the little boy that will be receiving the gift. Whatever the case, he really enjoyed buying the toys for the little boy and hopefully the idea of "giving to someone else" made an impression!
